"Tolerance in abundance" this is my India.

There is a journalist and an anchor who came to blows outside Madison square garden during the Indian Diaspora event in US, is now preaching tolerance and constructive criticism on national television. Then there is this lady criticizing the PM for this shawl (which was not Louis Vuitton) he had during his tour to Europe saying he should have chosen Indian handloom shawl (Khadi, on pretext of ‪#‎MakeInIndia‬), but when this handloom cloth is used for clothing for a special event during the summit of heads of 54 African nations in India, she cries foul, why waste of money! Then we have brokers in the media, remember ‪#‎RadiaGate‬ ‪#‎2GScam‬? The same lady anchor conducts discussions on a national channel regarding propriety and conflict of interest; irony dies then and there! There are other too on this or the other side of the coin. All the above people are the senior editors, those are the opinion makers who set the public discourse, what credibility can we expect from them?! Hence the current state of affairs in the fourth pillar of our democracy, the so called Main Stream Media, makes me worry about my country and its future.

Sometimes I wonder why did reports of the church attacks that filled newspaper headlines and dominated TV debates before the Delhi Assembly elections suddenly disappear after the polls? It is because, all of them proved to be false and manipulated all for politial gains; the MSM did not even think of clarifying the reports now, solely because of their political masters. Now they have a new Jamoora “‪#‎RisingIntolerance‬”. First thing first ‪#‎Dadri‬ was wrong, very very wrong, should be condemned and the culprits should be punished severely! But what is this farce going on in the MSM and the ‪#‎Darbaris‬ of the Congress regime in the name of ‪#‎AwardWapasi‬. They say intolerance is rising and their freedom of expression is curbed. I say, there have been thousands of television debates on it, hundreds of editorials in leading newspapers everyweek on the” FoE Debates”. Intellectuals, artists, politicians and a common man; all are expressing their views (Genuine, influenced or manufactured) as they could do it yesterday, no one stopping them. Some of them rant day and night against a person, who is heading an elected government, they abuse him, he tolerates them, and then they say our freedom of expression is under threat! The worst that this MSM can do is vitiate the atmosphere of the country, and I feel annoyed and slightly angry about it, hence this post! "Media Must Stop This!!

Actually as someone on SM said, Freedom of expression is doing just fine; it’s the monopoly of expression under threat for these ‪#‎Darbari‬'s, ‪#‎Sickulars‬, so called ‪#‎Intellectuals‬ and ‪#‎AdarshLiberals‬! Finally, if you question India for its tolerance, I can only feel pity for your ignorance and intellectual bankruptcy! "Tolerance in Abundance" is what describes India. Jai Hind!

To PK or Not to PK

Yes, that is my question to all the self proclaimed secularists and religious moral police, so-called liberals,  and not to forget the aam aadmi's of India.

Since the release of the Amir Khan starrer, Raju Hirani directed movie "PK", there was a new trend on twitter #BoycottPK. I cared to know what opinion does the twitterati had on this movie. Before moving onto knowing views of others, I planned to watch it myself first. So it was a holiday period here in Germany and I thought of utilising my time (or otherwise?) to know about PK, aakhir PK ka panga kya hai!

I found the movie to be having the same plot as the Akshay Kumar starrer movie, titled OMG- Oh My God, which was also opposed by some hindutva moral police as the movie depicted the Hindu gods and gurus on a negetive plank. Here is a fun fact, it did great bussiness in India. It was not banned in India, but in UAE :-). Anyways, more about the movie. I liked the movie as it was fun to watch and carried a social message. The movie was a satire that made me laugh and think from time to time. And the message was not to fall to the false trap setup in the name of religion and religious gurus, whoever they may be and whatever religion they follow (read: claim to own).

So back to twitterati what does the trends say: They had problem with mocking hindu gods, hindu ceremonies and questioning their faith to say the least. Some even did not had a problem with mocking or the social message, but they had a question why only bashing hindus and hinduism? (just because they are a majority in this country?). One argument which I found worth quoting was: The movie in one scene says "Jo darta hai wo mandir jata hai" and a supporter from the #BoycottPK replies "Acha, to jo din me 5 bar namaaz padhta hai vo nahi darta?" Valid? No? okay.

I will personally say, #ISupportPK and #DontBoycottPK, the message is good and universal. The only grudge I hold is if only the director would have been balanced to explore and depict the discrepancies in the name of religion. It would have been good, if he would have depicted the religious fanatism and mismatch in all the religions and not just singling out Hinduism. What about killings in the name of religion? what about killings in the name of superiority? Jihad? Missionaries and Conversions? One eminent writer wrote this, and I agree!

Whatever the mesage was and for whomsoever it was. The last word for the people who trended this #BoycottPK trend from me is loud and clear: It was not against Hinduism. As one said, Hinduism cannot hate, it is tolerant and belives in co-existance. Hinduism suggests that the world is one family "Vasudhev Kutumbakkam".

Movie Review: Student of the Year

 It was yesterday I planned for an evening show for Student of the year, Online:P (not to mention Pirated)

Bothered by something a friend suggested to watch movies to divert mind and mindless thoughts. So here I was searching List of Bollywood films of 2012 and found this movie Student of the Year, the first big movie following my seen list. (followed by Barfi, Heroine and English Vinglish).

The heroine was looking fabulous in the posters, and have heard few PJ's earlier on the heroine and the song of the movie namely "Ishq wala Love"


The film is based on two competitive students, who battle it out to try and win the prestigious Student of the Year trophy at some school. And its a love triangle with the heroine Alia Bhatt, who is the most popular girl in the school.

Although Student of the Year is not Karan’s Johar’s finest work, it is an entertaining and well-structured film nonetheless. Alia looked great in the movie, actors were also good. Songs aur dance sequences bhi ache the.  I would rate it "Three" out of Five stares.

I must confess, I like every movie and am not choosy about films. "Sab Achi hi hoti hai.." is what I say.
